This was a fun one for me. Down on the corner of First & Spring in Pleasanton, CA is this wonderful Man Cave place called Specialty Auto. It’s a showroom filled with at least four dozen wonderfully restored classic cars like GTO, Lotus, MG, Rolls Royce… they even have a Gatsby there. Funny thing though is that I didn’t recognize what this car is. Somebody surely knows?
The paint job on this beauty was stunning. The fun part was processing it and giving the photo a flavor of color like we saw in the movie “Dick Tracy” back in the 90′s. I think it turned out pretty good. Oh, you’re wondering about the name of the photo? Pimpmobile just popped into my head as I sat back taking it in. I guess the flamboyancy of the photo was driving me.
To process this one I used Viveza by Nik software to add the blue, yellow and green. I love Viveza and use it a lot, usually not so obvious & heavy handed. It’s a helpful tool to add texture to skies, get rid of unwanted lens flare, add structure to photo elements I want to ‘pop’, and other little jobs that come along from time to time.
Strangely enough, Captain Photo has never been the captain of anything, except his golf team in high school. He was on a big boat once, a cuise ship, and was banned from the bridge while offering to help navigate after leaving the ship's nightclub at 3 AM.
What I, Captain Photo, can do for you is to help sail the stormy seas of HDR photography. It's treacherous out there. I've been shipwrecked more than once. (I wasn't Captain those times)
