Photography at the Mysore Royal Palace

The rest of my group was inside the Mysore Royal Palace on the paid tour.  The reason I wasn’t with them was because I had a camera in my backpack and, they make it quite clear, no cameras are allowed inside.  The security scanner that everything goes through before you can enter the palace easily identified my camera and I was unceremoniously escorted outside.  Okay then, so let me see what else I can find to photograph while my group is inside.

There is quite a lot there if you open your eyes.  But that’s like anyplace.  If you can just be open to receive and stay present no matter where you are, images will appear.  It was a pretty hot day and I had wandered to the far end of the Palace grounds.  There was another structure across the immense courtyard and I saw these large gleaming golden doors.  It was curious because the doors were slightly cracked open.  This warranted further investigation.  I walked over in front of them and took this shot.  Since I had just been tossed out of the Palace I was a little gun shy to push my luck further in a foreign country and actually go through the doors.  It seemed that there was something about the lock & chain on the doors and the way the doors were just opened slightly that made me think maybe it was accidental that the doors were open at all and I better just not go in there.  Maybe you have been here and can tell us what I missed?

  1. I haven’t been there before but I’ve read that the palace contains a large quantity of silver and gold objects. The picture of the carved doors is so nice.
